One day I decided to plant a garden in our backyard, and my husband began to paint our weathered fence. We&rsquo;re renters, not owners, and were growing tired of waiting for the day when we would be able to buy something, so we began turning our house into a place we could call home.<br />

But it&rsquo;s not just our house that we&rsquo;ve become committed to&mdash;it&rsquo;s our neighborhood and our neighbors, not to mention our city. The more people we get to know here and the more friends we make, the more we grow interested in local politics and come to care about what happens to our community. For example, a newspaper article about the future of dog parks in our city means something more to us now that we use those parks and have friends that value and enjoy them as well <a style="color: #333333; text-decoration: none;" href="http://archive.am730.com.hk/article-320983">HKBU BBA</a>.<br />

First of all two ingredients off these delicious toasts. The roquito chili pepper pearls, oh my they are super tasty. You can put them on so many things to give them a fiery kick&nbsp; I like them on pizza, tacos, salads. Working in perfect harmony with the roquito peppers is this cool, creamy burrata. Burrata is heavenly its basically a luxury Italian mozzarella with a creamy centre. These crumbled meringue/whipped cream/cherry-brandy compote/chocolate ganache trifles are officially my new favorite dessert. I cannot imagine anything better. The meringue is crunchy but very delicate, softened by vanilla whipped cream<a style="color: #333333; text-decoration: none;" href="http://www.beauty-kingdom.com/beauty/bicelle.html">bicelle b5 gel</a>, coated with a blanket of creamy milk and bittersweet chocolate flavors and topped with fresh, juicy cherries cooked in brandy. As I said, it&rsquo;s the best!<br />

I had actually never heard of an Eton Mess until my buddy Nagi of recipetineats.com recently challenged me to make one for The Spice Train <a style="color: #333333; text-decoration: none;" href="http://www.apartmentwe.com.hk/edb/location.asp">Serviced apartment Sheung Wan</a>. (Nagi, your turn now! ;)) Apparently the dessert is traditionally served at Eton College&rsquo;s annual cricket match and was invented in one way or another (different sources tell different stories here) at the school. Kudos to whoever it was, nice job! <br />

Food Photography and Styling: I used prosecco glasses from Crate and Barrel here and I thought they worked really beautifully. The backdrop is a piece of slate that I recently found in our old shed. I thought it belonged to my husband but he had never seen it either so I suppose the previous owners had left it there <a style="color: #333333; text-decoration: none;" href="http://www.liketopics.com/reenexprice.html">reenex facial</a>. So go snoop around your shed or maybe your attic and you may just find some cool props! I lit the photo from the side with my Hensel Integra Pro Plus 500 strobe and my Hensel Ultra IV Softbox &ndash; 35&times;58&Prime; (90x150cm)).<br />

I find myself looking forward to my time in the kitchen just as much as the grand reveal of the finished Thanksgiving day spread.<br />

This year my signature cocktail was inspired by a local distillery's flagship gin. According to the handsome gin rep pouring samples at the liquor store, James River Distillery&rsquo;s Commonwealth Gin is made with hops, a growing trend in the craft-distilling world . It was love at first sip - the gin had strong citrus and herbal notes <a style="color: #333333; text-decoration: none;" href="http://okay.ublog3.com/quality">Dream beauty pro</a>, with the juniper playing second fiddle. I was surprised that the hops didn&rsquo;t add any bitterness but instead infused a subtle floral flavor .&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />

I immediately bought a bottle and created a modern version of the foghorn, an old-timey drink that has fallen out of vogue. I spruced up the classic gin-and-ginger cocktail with a bit of jalape&ntilde;o for warmth, fresh cranberry for a tart kick, and a splash of cherry juice for color and a sweet finish. Now that I have every detail of my holiday meal planned and a good cocktail recipe in my back pocket, I&rsquo;m ready for the biggest cooking day of the year. Today we have gone decadent with our pie week selection. I love chocolate, and I don&rsquo;t think you can ever have too much. Decadence and pie are an awesome combination! This is pretty much the Jay Gatsby of pies! I should probably share some poignant family story about this recipe, but the first time I made this pie, it was for my husband, while we were dating, and he wasn&rsquo;t all that impressed. I think it was mostly because he didn&rsquo;t like my Canadian pronunciation of &ldquo;pecan.&rdquo; According to Doug, &ldquo;A pee- can is something you take camping. A pi-ˈk&auml;n is a nut.&rdquo;) So, now that we know that my husband can&rsquo;t be relied on due to pronunciation bias, you&rsquo;re going to have to try this pie out for yourself and let me know what you think. It&rsquo;s definitely rich, but I don&rsquo;t see any problem with that!<br />

&nbsp;We made these as individual tarts, but you could just as easily make one big pie. If you&rsquo;re making a large pie, you&rsquo;ll want to roll out the dough instead of pressing it into the pan.]]></content:encoded>

It&rsquo;s healthy, delicious and you could probably get it ready in about 5 minutes and have it ready to eat in 15 minutes, so how bad can it be? I mean it&rsquo;s summer, sort of, and this recipe is very summer-ish so it&rsquo;s perfect.<br />

But let me ask you something. Are you a fan of artichokes? I have to admit I don&rsquo;t cook with them often, but I thought they&rsquo;d be perfect on these flatbreads and I was right. I bought a can of artichokes and used maybe about half of it on my flatbreads. I didn&rsquo;t want the artichokes to be overwhelming because hubs is not crazy about them, but honestly once baked and with all those other wonderful ingredients, the artichokes are not overwhelming.<br />

I added some of my favorite Greek salad ingredients here like my favorite Kalamata olives, tomatoes, green onions, and feta cheese. You know what&rsquo;s wonderful about these flatbreads? You don&rsquo;t really need a recipe and anyone can do it. So if you&rsquo;re missing an ingredient don&rsquo;t fret, use whatever you&rsquo;ve got in the fridge.]]></content:encoded>
